Trouble viewing our pages? This page answers some common questions (and provides the answers).

Style Sheets
Our online books use cascading style sheets to assist with layout and formatting. Because of this they look best if viewed with a relatively new browser such as Netscape 4 (or higher) or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 (or higher). Don't worry if you have an older browser though, because you'll still be able to read the books online, you will just see them in the your default font.

Fonts
The online books are presented in several different font styles to add atmosphere and/or aid visual clarity. For Windows 95/98 users the majority of fonts used on this site will already be on your machine. However, in case you don't have them, all the fonts used on this site are available to download by clicking
here. If you don't have all the fonts installed on your machine don't worry, you will still be able to read them, it will just be in your default font.

Downloads
The majority of books on this site are available for download in plain text format. To speed up the download process and to save space here at Classic Books Online the plain text files are compressed (made smaller) using Winzip. In order to open the 'zipped' files you will need Winzip or a similar utility. Winzip is free and available from http://www.winzip.com
